Beijing Automotive Group, also known as BAIC Group, is a state-owned enterprise and holding company of several Chinese automobile and machine manufacturers.
Its principal subsidiaries include the passenger car maker BAIC Motor, the military vehicle and SUV maker BAW and the truck, bus and agricultural equipment maker Foton Motor. The BAIC Group is one of China’s biggest automobile companies and plans to invest 1.7 billion yuan ($272 million) into the research and production of new-energy cars until 2015.
The BAIC New Energy Vehicles Co, a subsidiary of the Beijing Automotive Group, stated that the group will achieve production capacity of 160,000 units in the ten new energy car production bases, namely, Beijing, Qingdao, Guangzhou, Jiujiang and Weifang. The company aimed to accomplish the sales target of 200,000 new energy cars in 2020.
