The press conference of the 19th Qinghai China Investment & Trade Fair for Green Development (the Trade Fair) and China EV Rally 2018, Qinghai Lake (the CEVR) was held at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing in the afternoon of April 19, 2018. As a major part of the Trade Fair, CEVR has been successfully held for four years since 2014, already developing into a comprehensive showcase platform for the development of NEVs.
China EV Rally 2018, Qinghai Lake will be held by the beautiful Qinghai Lake on June 24-29, 2018. The event will be co-hosted by People's Government of Qinghai Province, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, co-organized by China Automotive Technology and Research Center, China Automotive Engineering Research Institute, Federation of Automobile and Motorcycle Sports of Republic of China, China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation, and organized by China EV100 and CEVR Qinghai Lake Co., Ltd.
Themed with “EV-led New Era”, the event will closely focus on strategic plans of electric vehicle industry, and implement new development ideas. With press conferences and series of activities, including assembly competition, departure and closing ceremonies, Ta'er Lamasery parade blessing, the stunt exhibition match, the performance test, the venue racing, the tour of Qinghai Lake rally, closing ceremony of the Trade Fair and award ceremony of the event, the event will adopt the multi-dimensional group assessment mechanism to create a more fair and just competition atmosphere. The event will be live broadcast by CCTV, local TV network, the Internet, and new media to comprehensively demonstrate the development of China's EV industry.
Mr. WANG Liming, the vice governor of Qinghai Province, director of State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) of Qinghai Province, director of the Executive Committee of the 19th Trade Fair and the 5th CEVR delivered the welcome speech, and said that held in the same period with the Trade fair, the CEVR has been successfully held for 4 years. It has built a highly qualified electric vehicle evaluation system, and has become a classic event for promoting NEV brands in China. It has played an active role in enhancing professional utilization of the salt lake, establishing a 100 billion lithium industry base in Qinghai, and promoting the healthy development of EV industry as well as upstream and downstream industries.
In 2018, the Qinghai Provincial Government will continue to hold the 19th Trade Fair and the 5th CEVR in Xining with the theme of “open, cooperation, green, and development”. With extensive exchanges and cooperation in multiple levels and various fields, the event strives to offer an open exchange platform for win-win cooperation and mutual benefit, as well as complementing advantages and coordinating regional development.
☆EV industry brings the best opportunity for China's automotive industry to overtake others
In recent years, China's electric vehicles have also ushered in great development with tremendous supports from the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

XU Chaoqian, deputy director general of the Department of High-tech Development and Industrialization of the Ministry of Science and Technology stated that holding the EV rally on the plateau and by the beautiful Qinghai Lake helps to explore and establish a professional EV evaluation system. While studying environmental adaptability of EV at high altitudes with wading missions, the performance of EVs was also tested and verified, which greatly promoted the development of electric vehicles in China.
The Ministry of Science and Technology will support the CEVR as always and actively promote Qinghai Province to build a comprehensive platform for in-depth experience, professional evaluation, and media promotion of EVs.

The 2018 CEVR also offers a broad communication platform for various participating OEMs to showcase their latest development of NEVs. By assessing performance and reliability of electric vehicles through tests, shortages will be identified and improvements will be made, so as to bring safer and more reliable and green products to the public.

Mr. HONG Tao, deputy director of the Executive Committee of the 5th CEVR and director of Qinghai Province Economic and Information Commission emphasized that the Trade Fair and CEVR have become an important engine for economic development, social progress, livelihood enhance and the building of ecology civilization. It is an important window and platform for Qinghai's opening up, cooperation and exchanges.

ZHANG Yongwei, secretary general and chief expert of the China EV100 said at the press conference that this year, China EV100 will deeply participate the CEVR. In the future, as one of the organizers of the event, EV100 will continue to integrate the CEVR with the“Lithium Industry Summit”, focusing on the development and efficient utilization of lithium resources, optimizing the battery industry chain, and promoting the popularization of electric vehicles. By combining policy research and academic exchanges on the lithium industry international forum with real vehicles evaluation and results showcase on the EV rally, the Summit and the CEVR will be created as a multi-dimensional, advanced and comprehensive EV promotion platform.
☆ A new rally model: Assembly + Rally

Road Map for the Assembly Competition
3-5 OEMs will be selected to join the Assembly during June 1st to June 20th. OEMs will departure from their own cities and arrive at Xining at the same time via 5 routes. This Assembly will be the first EV assembly event that covers the widest regions and the longest distance in China.
Road Map for the Rally
The second stage of the Rally will start from June 24th to 29th in Xining and by the Qinghai Lake. It will cover 678km and include 8 segments as well as 14 professional test items. It also covers the longest distance and the largest number of test items in the field of NEV in China.
FANG Maodong, Chief Engineer of China Automotive Technology and Research Center
On behalf of the event judging panel, Mr. FANG Maodong, chief engineer of China Automotive Technology and Research Center announced the content and evaluation criteria for the 5th CEVR, as well as the name list of judging panel, which included 23 experts from authorities of automotive industry, NEV batteries, and the auto industry.
FANG Maodong said the 2018 CEVR covered four segments, namely sedans, SUVs, buses, and cargo vans. Each passenger vehicle category would be further divided into A00 group, A0 group, A group, B group, C group and etc. The bus category and cargo category would not be further divided but named as the K group and W group respectively.
The evaluation will be conducted by two categories, namely testing and rating. 8 testing items include acceleration, braking, manipulation, wading, climbing, fast charging, power saving, battery life; 6 rating items include roominess design, interior design, technology configuration, comfort, mute effect and exterior design.
In terms of mileage evaluation, a random selection of participating OEMs will be adopted for the first time, and only one model will be selected for battery life assessing.

On behalf of participating OEMs, CAI Suping, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee Member and deputy general manager of BAIC Group said that the Trade Fair and CEVR had adhered to green development for years and endeavored to the development of NEVs. With more participants and greater influence, it had become a comprehensive showcase platform for the development of NEVs.
He stressed that by 2025, BAIC will establish a world-class NEV technology innovation center and become a global leading NEV company. BAIC is willing to work with colleagues from all industries to make NEV a new business card of “Made in China”. BAIC hopes to contribute efforts to protect Qinghai's green mountains and clear water, promoting the green development in Qinghai.
☆Entertainment and Sports celebrities support charity to promote green travel
At the press conference, a number of entertainment and sports celebrities were appointed as pubic image ambassadors and public promotion ambassadors to endorse the CEVR.
Mr. WANG Jianyu, deputy inspector of the Department of Equipment Industry of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology granted awards for pubic image ambassadors, famous movie stars CHE Xiao and HUANG Junpeng.
CHE Xiao and HUANG Junpeng proposed the green travel initiative at the press conference.
CHE Xiao said that as the ambassador, I suggest each of us should practice green travel. I suggest choosing EVs more when we travel to make our efforts in protecting the clear water and blue sky, leaving a green world to the next generation.
HUANG Junpeng said the great landscape in China is unique, so is the Earth. Everyone should protect the environment. We can start green travel and low-carbon life from ourselves and then influence the people around us.
On the press conference, ZHOU Jinfeng, secretary-general of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation announced the event charity activity themed as “EV-led New Era- reducing plastic products and picking waste plastic” activity and invited popular on-line writer Tangjia Sanshao as the ambassador.
XU Chun, deputy director of the Department of Science and Technology of Qinghai Province awarded charity promotion ambassadors with flags. They were HE Chong, Olympic Diving Champion, World Championship Grand, SANG Xue, Olympic Diving Champion, MO Huilan, World Gymnastics Champion, BI Wenjing, World Gymnastics Champion, KUI Yuanyuan, World Gymnastics Champion, XUE Ming, Volleyball Women's World Champion, SHI Jingnan, Short Track Speed Skating World Champion, and HUANG Jinxuan, World Aerobics Champion. The 5th CEVR also started a new page with new competition modes, comprehensive evaluation systems and authoritative expert judges.
